Virtual Launch and Training of SMART PDS RCMS on 27JUN2025
Shri. K. BuzarJamhar, DANICS, Director of Food & Civil Supplies, UT of Lakshadweep virtually launched the SMART PDS RCMS (Ration Card Management System) on 27th June 2025. The launch event was held at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kavaratti and connected all islands via Bharat VC.
In his inaugural address, Shri. BuzarJamhar emphasized the role of technology in streamlining the Public Distribution System (PDS) and ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution of essential commodities. He also encouraged all participating officers to actively engage in the training and make the most of the opportunity to clarify any doubts regarding the new system
Following the launch, a comprehensive training session was conducted for Taluk Food Supply Officers, Ration Card dealers and Godown Keepers across the Lakshadweep Islands.

NIC Lakshadweep organized the training with technical support from NIC Delhi. Around 60 officials participated including representatives from all island DFSO offices. Smt. Humaida Beevi K K, Joint Director(IT), NIC Lakshadweep and PDS Coordinator delivered a detailed presentation on the SMART PDS application outlining its key processes and modules.
The resource team from NIC Delhi conducted live demonstrations of the SMART PDS RCMS, covering modules such as application form entry, verifying officer module and approving authority module. They addressed all participant queries and the training session was widely appreciated for its clarity and effectiveness.

Dr. S. M Althaf, Data Analyst, SPIT SMART-PDS provided an introduction to the SMART PDS scheme, highlighting its features and benefits.
The event was attended by key officials including Smt. Humaida Beevi K.K. (NIC-Nodal Officer, SMART-PDS), Shri M.A. Azad (DRCS), Shri P.S. Basheer (ARCS), Shri Anwer Hussain (ARCS), Dr. S. M. Althaf (Data Analyst, SMART-PDS) and staff from the Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies. Shri Jamaludeen N. (BDO) and Shri Fahad Bin Abdulla (VEO) were also present.
